- What forms of payment can I use to purchase online?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and Cato gift cards.
- When will I be charged for my purchase?
You will be charged when the item(s) ship.
- Can I use my Cato credit card or Cato gift card for online purchases?
Yes! Cato gift cards are now accepted at catofashions.com.
- Why was my payment declined?
For your security, your billing name and address must match the billing information your credit card company has on file. Please contact your credit card company if you received a declined message.
- Do you charge sales tax?
Sales tax is calculated based on your order’s “ship to” address in accordance with state and local sales-tax laws, including shipping where applicable.
- What is the status of my order?
You will receive an order confirmation email after your order is placed. Once your order has shipped, you’ll receive another email with detailed shipping information. You can also log into My Account to track the status of your order.
- Can I change or cancel my order?
Once you click “submit” we are unable to modify or cancel your order.
- What happens if an item from my order is out of stock?
If an item from your order is out of stock you will receive an email notification and you will not be charged for that item. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
- The item I want is out of stock. Will you be getting more?
We try to carry as much merchandise as possible, but online items may sellout quickly.
- Do I have to create an account to purchase online?
You have the option to shop as a guest or create an account if you choose.
- What is a wish list?
A wish list allows you to save products without adding them to your current shopping bag. You can email your wish list to share with others.
- How do I create a wish list?
You must create an account to save and share your wish list and access it on return visits.
- How do I place a Ship to Store order?
Place your item(s) in your shopping bag and click the checkout link. Once in checkout, chose “Ship to Store” as your shipping option. You can search by City and State or Zip Code. Select the Cato store you wish to ship to. One store may be selected per order. Cato gift cards are not available for Ship to Store.
- What is the shipping charge for Ship to Store?
There is no shipping and handling fee for our Ship to Store option.
- When can I pick up my order in store?
You can expect your order to arrive in store within 15 business days. You will receive a confirmation email from us once your order has arrived in store. Orders not picked up in store within 30 days after arrival will be returned to the store. Refunds will be made for full amount in the form of a Cato gift card.
- Can I expedite my shipment to store?
Orders sent to Cato stores cannot be expedited.
- What information do I need to pick up my order?
Please bring a copy of your confirmation email to the store. It contains all the information needed to identify your order. For your protection, you may be asked to present a proper photo ID (a valid state-issued ID or driver’s license) and credit card used to make your purchase. The owner or authorized user of the credit card must be present to pick up the merchandise. For gifts, please indicate recipient’s name on the order.
- How can I purchase a Cato gift card?
Cato gift cards can be purchased online or at any Cato store. Cato gift cards are available for purchase online in the amount of $25 to $999, for use in our retail stores and online at catofashions.com.
- How can I redeem my Cato gift card?
Cato gift cards may be redeemed at any of our Cato retail stores and online at catofashions.com.
Please note: To redeem a Cato gift card online at catofashions.com, the gift card must have a 4-digit PIN number. If you have a gift card that does not have a PIN number, it can be redeemed at a Cato Fashions retail store or exchanged in store for a gift card that does have a PIN.
Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. Gift cards are not redeemable for cash except where required by law, and may not be applied as payment on any account. Lost, stolen, altered, or damaged gift cards will not be canceled or replaced without the required proof of purchase. We do not charge sales tax on the purchase of gift cards; however, items paid for with a gift card will be charged applicable sales tax. Cato gift cards cannot be returned or exchanged.
With original receipt (your packing slip/invoice), we will honor a merchandise refund in the original form of payment within 90 days of purchase. If a Cato gift card was used, a new gift card will be issued. Refunds will be made to Cato gift cards first for orders that used multi tenders.
- Where can I send a Cato gift card?
Gift cards may be sent to any valid shipping address in the United States. One shipping address per transaction. If shipping to multiple addresses, please place separate orders.
- What are my shipping options for Cato gift cards?
We offer two shipping options – Standard Delivery (free) and Express Delivery.
There is no shipping charge for Cato gift card-only purchases using USPS Standard Delivery (allow 4-9 business days). Orders placed by 2 p.m. ET Monday - Friday will be delivered by USPS within 4 to 9 business days, pending credit card authorization and verification.
Express delivery for gift card-only purchases is available for $11.95. Orders placed by 2 p.m. ET Monday - Friday will be delivered by FedEx within two business days, pending credit card authorization and verification.
Add one business day for orders placed after 2 p.m. ET. Order placed on weekends or holidays will be processed the next business day. All orders are subject to verification process and any information that does not verify with a customer's financial institution may cause delay.
- How can I check the balance of my Cato gift card?
Check online at catofashions.com/info/gift-card-balance or call 1-800-526-9169 to check your balance.

Most Cato stores are open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. However, hours vary by individual store. Please call your local store for its specific store hours.

At this time, we do not have a catalog.
- Does Cato offer a layaway plan?
Cato stores offer a 30-day layaway plan. Layaway is not available for online purchases.
